The point of this blog is to give me a space to think aloud, as I begin the process of research and writing my masters thesis.

At this moment, my thesis is going to look at the discourses and representations of torture in post 9/11 television, focusing on two programs: Battlestar Galactica, and 24. Both of these programs are notable because of large fan bases, and their use of current political debates as a backdrop.

This thesis will not only look at how the subject is dealt with in the show but how the media and fan communities seek to understand and deal with such graphic ideas.
